Morocco has won the African title in Rocket League after defeating South Africa 4–2 in the final of the FIFAe Continental Championship Africa 2026 in Casablanca.
The home victory also secured Morocco a place at the FIFAe World Cup 2026, where the national team will compete against qualifiers from other regions. South Africa earned Africa’s second place at the global event after reaching the continental final.
An unbeaten route through Casablanca
The African championship ran from August 27 to 29 and brought national teams together for competitions in Rocket League, eFootball Console and eFootball Mobile. Morocco completed the Rocket League group stage without a series defeat, establishing itself alongside South Africa as one of the tournament favourites.
In the knockout stage, the Moroccan team beat Egypt 4–1 in the semi-final. South Africa advanced by defeating Tunisia 4–0, setting up a final between the two strongest teams of the event.
The championship match lasted six games. Morocco prevailed 4–2 to claim the continental trophy on home soil and complete a campaign in which the team had consistently outperformed the field.
A new trio delivers the title
Morocco was represented by Marouane “skyrix” Biba, Rayane Bennani “ray” Smires and Anouar “AnoriQ” Bouzidi. The three players had already competed together during the online FIFAe Nations League stages under coach Andy “Kassio” Landais.
The line-up placed emerging players at the centre of the national team. Established Moroccan stars Nassim “nass” Bali and Samy “dralii” Hajji were preparing for the 2026 Rocket League Championship Series World Championship and did not compete at the Casablanca event.
That made the result a useful measure of Morocco’s depth. Skyrix, ray and AnoriQ did more than secure qualification: they won the event against an experienced South African roster and demonstrated that the national programme can remain competitive while drawing on a broader pool of players.
Third consecutive appearance on the global stage
The qualification sends Morocco to the Rocket League FIFAe World Cup for a third consecutive year. The country reached the top four in 2024 before finishing in the top 12 in 2025.
The 2026 continental structure gives Africa two places at the global tournament. Morocco and South Africa will therefore both represent the region, despite meeting in the African final.
Morocco also finished second in the eFootball Console competition in Casablanca, adding another podium result during the three-day event. Together, the performances underline the country’s growing presence in organised competitive gaming and its ability to stage international esports events.
What comes next
The continental title is an important result, but the FIFAe Finals will provide the more demanding test. Morocco will face national teams drawn from deeper professional ecosystems and several established Rocket League regions.
The Casablanca campaign nevertheless gives the team momentum and a clearer competitive benchmark. An unbeaten group run, decisive knockout victories and a title earned with an emerging line-up offer evidence that Morocco’s recent international results are being supported by more than a single generation of players.
